Lifestyle & Wellbeing

IMG_0638Anglican Care is committed to the provision of ‘excellent care and enhanced lifestyles’ to its residents and consumers. Our innovative and award winning lifestyle and wellbeing programs aim to support and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical wellbeing of our residents and consumers. Our goal is to assist our residents and consumers to maximise their independence and support them to remain active, healthy and socially connected and this is embedded throughout our organisation.

To support the delivery of our lifestyle and wellbeing programs Anglican Care employs a Lifestyle and Wellbeing Co-ordinator who mentors and supports the 35 dedicated Lifestyle and Wellbeing staff across the organisation.

Our Lifestyle and Wellbeing staff plan and deliver stimulating lifestyle and wellbeing programs that enhance the care we provide and promotes quality of life, pleasure, enjoyment and positive ageing. Programs are based on the individual interests and needs of our residents and consumers.  Our staff undertake a comprehensive assessment with all of our new residents and consumers in consultation with families, carers and volunteers. This assessment takes into consideration a person’s past/current interests, cultural and religious background, their sense of identity and life experiences.

Resources Hit the Road

Our latest innovation is the introduction of ‘Rene’ our new Lifestyle Resource Van.  A modern twist on a mobile library, the Van is equipped with items that residents and consumers can borrow for a month at a time; large print reading books and other literature, DVD’s, board and floor games, knitting, music and art therapy items, together with information technology items such as iPads – to name but a few.  The wide ranging nature of resources enables the Van to assist many people; from those with a dementia related illness to those who may be socially isolated.  It also has resources to assist carers and to cater for people from different cultural backgrounds via communication cards and links with interpreting / translating services.

You can click here to view our downloadable brochure on the Van, and this short video takes a look at how our new resource van was created, from conception to implementation. It shows the joy it now brings to our residents and consumers across the Hunter, Central Coast and Manning regions.
